THE FIRST USEFUL STEP
Tell us what happened before you notify the insurer where possible. We will explain whether PCLA appears appropriate for the claim.
ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE CLAIM SUPPORT
Independent claim support after sudden damage to your home or belongings.
PCLA reviews the damage and your policy, prepares the evidence and manages communication with the insurer on your behalf. We act for policyholders, not insurers.
Free, no-obligation policy review.
HOW PCLA HELPS
Accidental damage claims can turn on the cause, the policy wording and the quality of the supporting evidence. PCLA brings those parts into one managed process.
We review the damage and the policy wording to establish whether the incident appears to fall within accidental damage cover.
We gather photographs, reports and other documents an insurer needs to understand the cause and extent of the damage.
We handle communication with the insurer and its loss adjuster while you deal with the disruption at home.
Where a claim is disputed, reduced or declined, we present the evidence and negotiate under the terms of the policy.
WHY CLAIMS GET DISPUTED
Insurers consider the cause of the damage, exclusions and whether the incident was sudden rather than gradual. PCLA reviews those questions against the available evidence.
The same visible damage can fall under different policy terms depending on what caused it.
Wear and tear, maintenance and gradual deterioration are common points of disagreement.
Fixed items, contents and matching sets can be treated differently from one policy to another.

BELFAST CASE OUTCOME
Accidental escape of water from an upstairs shower to the kitchen below.
CASE STUDY
A homeowner returned to find water coming through the kitchen ceiling after a shower shelf fell onto a tap while the property was unattended. The water ran for several hours and affected the bathroom and kitchen below.
Although the resulting loss involved water damage, the cause of the incident meant the claim was considered under the policy’s accidental-damage peril. PCLA assessed the damage, prepared the supporting evidence and managed communication with the insurer.
Claim outcomes depend on the circumstances, evidence and terms of each policy. This example does not guarantee the outcome of another claim.
IS PCLA RIGHT FOR THIS CLAIM?
Not every accidental knock or breakage needs a loss assessor. The free initial review is where we look at the likely claim size, complexity and policy position before you decide whether to appoint us.
The damage is small and contained, cover is clear and the repair is straightforward. Tell us what happened and we will give you an honest view before you decide whether paid representation is worthwhile.
For most domestic property claims, PCLA’s standard fee is 10% of the settlement plus VAT. The rate can be higher or lower depending on the claim’s size and complexity, and the exact fee is agreed in writing before appointment.
